Mark Gunzinger Joins CSBA

Release of Defense Planning for the Long Haul Report
01/11/2010 CSBA’s newest release, Defense Planning for the Long Haul: Scenarios, Operational Concepts, and the Future Security Environment, translates the principal strategic challenges the United States is likely to confront into a set of plausible scenarios. The report comes just weeks in advance of the Defense Department’s submission of the Quadrennial Defense Review to Congress in early February.

01/08/2010 The Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA), a recognized leader in innovative thinking on defense planning and investment strategies, today announced the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors: Pierre Samuel “Pete” du Pont, Victor “Vic” H. Fazio, Nelson M. Ford, James “Jim” J. Shinn and Laurence Zuriff. The new members will be joining Dave McCurdy (Chair), Dan Coats, Devon Gaffney Cross, Jack Keane, Elihu Rose and R. James Woolsey.

Budget Request Begins Shift Toward Balanced Defense Posture
05/07/2009 Today’s release of the Obama Administration’s FY 2010 budget request signals a new direction for the Department of Defense. While the top-line budget figures and many of the programmatic decisions have already been released, the detailed budget unveiled today provides some clues as to how the new administration plans to remake the Defense Department. It begins the process of rebalancing the DoD’s portfolio of programs and activities to align them better with the national defense strategy.
